Sandra Jean Salvatore
May 26, 1943 – October 16, 2014
Sandy Salvatore was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the second of five children to Wilbert and Margaret Schnebelin. She graduated from Olmsted Falls High School in 1961 and married Ralph Salvatore later that year. As Mother of 4 children, she cared not only for them, but many others in her family and in her network of friends. She was there every day when her oldest, Michael, was in months-long recovery from a fractured femur at age 14. She also was there with several of her family at the time of their passing; in other words, selflessness was a part of who she was. In 1990 she received a degree in Medical Records and worked in several medical centers in Cleveland, the last one being the Visiting Nurse Association, until 2007. She had a side job as an expert cake baker and decorator. At age 59, she learned she had Parkinson’s disease, but kept on doing her job at a superior level for another 5 years, and still found the time for family and friends during her 12 year long battle. Ultimately, family is what mattered most to her. She was also blessed with 5 granddaughters. Her battle with Parkinson’s was very challenging in her last 3 years, but even to the end, still made time for her family. Her legacy of love and giving still endures in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, and in being a beacon of inspiration in the fight against Parkinson’s.
